This painting shows the techniques working with a Badger airbrush and fine art hand brushes. This was a mural that I was asked to do for a women’s clothing store. It was painted on a Richeson Hardboard Masonite Panel to give a smooth surface. The painting was done on a 48” x 48” panel instead of directly on the wall so it could be moved on different walls when the owner changed the layout. The surface was done with Gesso giving a thin texture instead of using canvas to keep away from the grooves. I worked with Grumbacher acrylics using both the airbrush and various brands of paintbrushes. It was painted from a black and white photograph from an old photography magazine in the 1950’s. Working with a subject like this is a job I like to do because it broadens your imagination to decide what the colors are going to be transferring from black and white to color. I mostly like to work with the various sizes of a hand brush but in paintings like this the airbrush gives the smooth soft look for clothing along with flesh tones used in the majority of this painting.

Art has been the one thing that I have enjoyed either for businesses, individuals, or just for the joy of expressing my heart and talent on canvas. One of my greatest opportunities has been working with children both in schools and individually. It is sharing a part of myself that every artist expresses into his art itself.
